My spiritual brother sent me a picture and the subject was: Do you have enough faith?
Instead of considering his question I was so focused on the pictures. I asked, “how did you do that?” It appears as if he is walking on water. If you are not familiar with the bible story of Peter walking on water here is a quick bible lesson.
In 3 of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, and John) the writers’ record when Jesus walked on water. The disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee and a windstorm began. In the middle of the windstorm Jesus walks on the water. When the disciples see Him they are scared and assume he is a ghost. Jesus tells them not to be afraid. One of the disciples, Peter says: “Lord, if it’s you bid me to come.” Jesus tells him to come. Peter gets out of the boat, walks on water, and came toward Jesus. When he is out on the water he pays attention to the wind. He becomes fearful and begins to sink. He asks the Lord, “save me!” Immediately Jesus reaches out his hand to catch him and his reply is: ”You of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Scripture References: John 6:19, Matthew 14:25, Mark 6:48)
Faith is what caused Peter to get out of the boat but once he start doubting in his heart he began to sink. This whole story is about having faith and trusting God in the midst of whatever storms of life you are faced with knowing he will save you. I am thankful for that reminder from my brother. Its good to have other believers around to encourage you when you are faced with a difficult situation.
“FAITH is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1)
