Photographer Derek Blanks told theYBF.com his recent shoot with Michelle Williams is about her being judged as both a Christian and secular artist and it reflects how people are judgmental in and outside of the church. She is herself in the purple, but how she feels she is looked at in the yellow.

I can totally relate to Michelle because on my journey towards TOTAL LIFE PROSPERITY I realize that I’m not cha’ average church girl. Considering that I am not the average bible toting believer, I’ve received back lash from the body and non-believers. The older saints think because I’m young I don’t know God, I don’t know as much bible as them, I should dress a certain way, talk like them, pray like them, go here, don’t go there stick to religious traditions, etc. But I argue that doing those things doesn’t make me more or less saved than the next person. Non believers like to bring up the past and say what I used to say, where I used to go, what I used to do, and I have to tell them that’s not me anymore. Its hard to explain the re-birth to someone because they can’t see the spiritual transformation. I honestly believe that people are so caught up on appearances and what it looks like or appears to be that they forget to consider the person they can’t see. It is true that man looks at the outward appearance while God looks at the heart so its inevitable that I or anyone else will be judged but when will the body of Christ get to the: judge not lest you be judged? The real question should be: Do you know God? Being religious and believing in God are two different things. Its not about religion its about a relationship and no man in or outside the church has the authority to judge that.

Thanks for your comment. Glad you like it. I agree with what you said “the journey towards being saved is a process” Love that!!!
I’m diggin the photos and the use of color…it’s making me think I ought to do triple takes of myself — That would be jumpin.
Aye, nah, I need a honey to take my pics though
Very true! There are no levels of saved. Either you are saved or you or not. It does not vary depending on what you know or how you dress. Not even how many scriptures you can quote or how many sins you commit can seperate you from the love of God. Saved simply means accepting him as your savior, nothing more nothing less.
How do I get a lil’ picture of myself ? I wanna be a certified fan of this site like “G” .. .lol

Glad to read this! It is sooooo true. People that aren’t on the path don’t quite understand and often don’t want to accept the change. As the old saying goes, I charge it to their heads not their hearts. As for the ‘old saints’, I have always felt that they should just understand that times have changed and instead of being somewhat judgemental of how younger saved souls carry themselves they should embrace us. I do feel like more young people would open up more if the old folks would, instead of cast stones, show young people that they once were like them and that the journey towards being saved is a process. (Sorry about this lengthy comment Naseya – I DIGG this post
