My favorite cast member from MTV’s reality show “The Hills” Lauren Conrad has launched a new beauty blog- The Beauty Department

The The site will cover make-up how to’s, nail trends, beauty obsessions, current inspirations, and quick tips. I’ve already found a new nail trend I want to try-Ombre Nails!

The trick to acheiving this look is to apply colors all within the same family without too much variation in color so it appears to be a smooth transition. I might try this trend this weekend! If it turns out well I post some pics on my photo blog

H&M Fashion Against AIDS Campaign

Artists from the worlds of film and music are supporting H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) Campaign, a mutual initiative between H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA) to help spread the message of safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention to young people around the globe. Selma Blair, Penn Badgley, Keri Hilson, Sky Ferreira, Akon, Nikki Reed, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scissor Sisters, Shiloh Fernandez and The Misshapes are among the celebrities involved in this year’s unisex FAA collection.

“Artists are an essential part of our campaigns, as they are role models for so many young people. Celebrities help to spread the message by speaking out about HIV/AIDS prevention. We’re asking them to help spread the safe sex message on social media: Twitter, Facebook, their own websites and at their concerts too.” Ninette Murk, founder and creative director, DAA.

This year’s unisex FAA collection is available online and in H&M’s Divided department on April 26th, with 25% of sales donated to the charity Designers Against AIDS (DAA) and various other international HIV/AIDS prevention projects.

“How much are you willing to risk for what you want? It’s not about who’s the most talented, but who wants it the most”

This quote speaks to me in ways you do not know! There are some great things I have a strong desire to pursue but a part of me is scared, cautious about the risk(s) required to obtain them. After seeing this picture and quote my faith has been fueled! Just a few hours before I saw this I had a convo with a friend and she told me: “scared money, don’t make money”.

This was JUST the inspiration I needed to aggressively pursue the things I want the most!

Happy Monday!!!! I came across this quote…

This quote almost moved me to tears this morning. With everything going on in the world around us just be here is a blessing. Last night I watched 60 Minutes about the Disaster in Japan and it took everything in me not to shed a few tears. According to the report, the earthquake and tsunami left approximately 8,500 people dead, 13,000 missing, and nearly 500,000 homeless. The number of causalities is so overwhelming that there aren’t enough LIVING to take care of those who didn’t survive. Regardless to my problems, or circumstances just to be alive is more than enough to put a smile on my face. My level of gratitude and thankfulness continues to increase because that could have been me. I didn’t have to wake up this morning but I did. That’s something to smile about!

I haven’t addressed the devastating events that happened in Japan on this blog, but my heart goes out to all of those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami. I cannot imagine how those victims are coping. Ever since then my outlook on life has changed. Whenever I even think about complaining, I quickly remind myself: at least I’m not in Japan. Time Warner Cable and the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) are embarking on nationwide search to find four aspiring television personalities for the talk show series to host and interview African-Americans who are paving the way in pop culture, music, films, sports, and the community.TWC created this platform to spotlight trailblazing African-Americans in entertainment and the community.

“Born to Shine” is an opportunity to share the journeys of those who have excelled in the entertainment/media business so others can learn from their experiences. The lessons learned, pitfalls to avoid, and more will be useful to readers who want to understand the entertainment business from in front of the camera to behind the scenes.
